Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Readlis — the web app at readlis.app, the Readlis browser extension, and the Readlis MCP server (together, "Readlis"). By creating an account or using Readlis you agree to them.

What Readlis does

You give Readlis a link, pasted text, or a file. Readlis retrieves the content where it can be reached without signing in as you, and returns an AI-generated summary with key points, quotes, and timestamps. Readlis does not host, sell, or redistribute the underlying content.

Accounts

You must provide a valid email address and keep your credentials secure.
One person per account. Don't share logins or API keys.
You are responsible for everything done through your account.

Plans and quotas

Quotas are counted in summaries, not credits. One summary is one summary regardless of source length. Current plans:

Free — 5 summaries per month.
Pro — 500 summaries per month, $6.99/month or $69/year.
Pro Max — 2,000 summaries per month, $14.99/month or $149/year.

Quotas reset on the 1st of each month and do not roll over. When you reach your quota, summarizing pauses — we never upgrade you or charge you automatically. We may change prices or quotas with notice for future billing periods; your current period is unaffected.

Billing and cancellation

Subscriptions are billed in advance through Stripe. Taxes are calculated at checkout where required.
Cancel any time from your account page. Your plan stays active until the end of the paid period; we don't pro-rate refunds for partial periods.
Upgrades take effect immediately and are pro-rated by Stripe.
Failed payments may result in downgrade to Free after Stripe's retry window.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Circumvent quotas, rate limits, or authentication, or resell Readlis output as a competing summarization service.
Submit content you do not have the right to access, or bypass paywalls, DRM, or login walls.
Use Readlis to generate unlawful, harassing, or deliberately misleading material.
Automate the product outside the documented API and MCP endpoints.

Your content

You keep all rights to the content you submit and to the summaries generated from it. You grant Readlis a limited licence to process and store that content solely to operate your account. We do not sell, share, or train models on your content. Deleting a summary removes it from our systems within 24 hours. See the Privacy Policy for details.

AI output — no warranty

Summaries, chat answers, research notes, and predictive outlooks are produced by AI language models. They can be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, and can misattribute or fabricate detail. Readlis is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Nothing produced by Readlis is financial, legal, medical, tax, or professional advice. Verify anything that matters against the original source — the timestamps and quotes are there for exactly that. You are solely responsible for decisions you make based on Readlis output.

Third-party services

Readlis depends on third parties including Stripe (payments), our authentication and database provider, and AI model providers. Their availability affects ours, and their terms apply to their portion of the service.

Availability and limitation of liability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Readlis's total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time from the account page. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms, with notice where practical and immediately where the breach is severe or unlawful.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced by email or in-app before they take effect. Continuing to use Readlis after that means you accept the updated terms.
